"Sex Gets Up Womens Noses"
Quite the headline. The article in Sciencebase is about melanocortin receptors and an experimental nasal inhalant drug called PT-141 (or bremelanotide) touted as an aphrodisiac and weight loss drug (learn more from The Neurocritic).
It's possible to order synthetic PT-141 by the kilogram online from factories in
This was a post from sandra from a couple days ago - I'm having issues with blogger/feedburner and had to repost this.

Hi,
I was doing some searching around for what people are saying about Bremelanotide and saw your blog post.
Obviously I'm a bit late in commenting to what you said, but I have to say those psychopharmacists (who experiment by injecting untested drugs into themselves) give my the willies! :)
I've actually just started a blog about Bremelanotide, now that it's getting a BIT closer to being approved, and will be paying close attention to how it may be misused. As I say in my first post, I highly doubt it can be used like a normal 'date rape' drug, I'm sure some guys will give it a try. lol
If you're interested, one place I subscribed to is the Bremlanotide Bulletin which seems to do a decent job of summarizing any new news about Bremelanotide...

I'll be using it and other resources for posting in my own blog too.

Oops - crap.
Here I am 3 months later to correct an error I made back in November (my previous comment)!
I saw someone coming into my own blog about Bremelanotide (mentioned above) from your post here... and then reread my comment only to discover I mispelled the address I wrote for that Bremelanotide Bulletin. {:) ...heh.
It should be:
http://www.bremolanotide.com
(also made that link my 'name' in this post)
..and just to make sure this update to my comment isn't a total waste, FYI the latest news about Bremelanotide) is that 'at home' trials have begun with pre and post menopausal women to determine (iirc) the best doseage amount for them. That stage of the trials has already been finished for men - according to the December post for that Bremelanotide Bulletin, which also featured an article and video for ABC Nightline News' report about Bremelanotide btw.
I hope it's available soon but seems it'll be another 1.5 to 2 years minimum. :(
